The Story
A good career, a beautiful wife, a wonderful marriage, but Li Bing Gui and his wife just cannot produce a child. With the pressures from his mother to break his loving relationship with his wife, Bing Gui finds the perfect solution from the most unexpected couple.

The Event
To celebrate its 76th anniversary, Thau Yong Amateur Musical Association is presenting the Teochew Opera "The Kidnap" to the Teochew community in Asia Pacific.

The Directors

  • Mr. Ji Shu Zhang -- 1960s Teochew Opera movie star & director from Shantou, China.
  • Mr. Li Xian Lie -- the Teochew music maestro from China.
    Mr. Li has taken time off to lead the musicians before he heads to Netherlands, Belgium and Germany for a series of concerts for the European Foundation for Chinese Music.
  • Mr. Cai Jian Chen -- The retired Chief Master Drummer (Music Director equivalent) of the First Troupe of Chaozhou Institute of Guangdong, will be taking up the "batons" again to be the master drummer and conductor for this production.

    • The Cast
    The lead sheng and dan, will be Mdm Zenn Lim and Miss Lau Yan Suat.

    Mr Yang Hao Ran, the pioneer of Chinese orchestral music in Singapore, is as well, the most respected senior of Singapore's last complete Teochew music ensemble, leading his fellow Singaporean members to play accompaniment Teochew music for this opera production.
